Ruthann Aron, a Montgomery County politician, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for hiring an assassin to kill her husband, Barry Aron, and a lawyer, Arthur Kahn.

Aron’s sentence included 1 year in a private psychiatric hospital in NY. The bill would be paid by herself. Aron’s sentence was a departure from the recommended guidelines of 8 – 18 years. However, there have been cases where sentencing did not follow guidelines.

Ruthann Aron’s legal troubles are far from over. Her estranged husband has sued her divorce and a $7.5 million lawsuit. Barry Aron claimed Ruthann caused him emotional stress. Ruthann Aron has counter-sued Barry for $24 million, alleging he prescribed drugs to her that worsened her mental illness and caused her breakdown.

Ruthann Aron’s adult children supported her in court. Barry Aron was absent. Arthur Kahn was also absent at Ruthann’s sentencing.
