By Clarencia Cynrae on October 21st, 2008
Ruben Cavazos, ex president of the Mongols, was arrested at his home. Cavazos lived near the South Hills Country in West Covina. Cavazos’ two motorcycles at a house in Cordova Court were loaded onto trucks. Although Ruben Cavazos was the former president of the Mongols, the authorities have enough background evidence to arrest him for his past innvolvement in the Mongols motorbike gang.
ATF officers searched the premises for evidence. The garage was filled with boxes and cluttered with things. Police said the Mongols had an estimated 600 members. About 400 members resided in California. The number of arrests so far on Tues., Oct 21 was 61.
The U.S. Attorney Office said the Mongols motorcycle gang had battled with the Hells Angels motor gang and the Mexican Mafia. The authorities had conducted a 3 year investigation into the Mongols. They had penetrated the Mongols using undercover agents, with women posing as their girlfriends. The Mongols had enforced lie detector tests to screen new members before they would accept them. Authorities were able to discover the Mongol gang members participated in crimes that included murder, hate crimes, assault, gun crimes and drug trafficking.
