Ronnie Holloway was beaten by a police officer, Joseph R Rios III, in Passaic, New Jersey. A surveillance video tape showed Holloway standing outside Lawrence’s Grill and Bar.

A police car pulled up and Holloway was approached by two officers in the car. One of them, a female officer, asked Holloway to zip his sweat shirt. Rios got out of the car and started beating Holloway with his fists and baton.

Holloway, a schizophrenia patient, did not resist. Officer Rios is still on active duty. Holloway’s mother, Beth Holloway, has filed a complaint with the police’s internal affairs department. The Holloways want an investigation and charges to be brought against Rios. Beth Holloway and Ronnie Holloway are filing a lawsuit against Passaic police for alleged police brutality.
