Romell Broom: Romell Broom execution for killing Tryna Middleton
By Therese Lisieux on September 15th, 2009Romell Broom, 35, is on death row. On Tuesday, 10 am, Romell Broom expects to be executed. Broom was convicted of raping and killing a girl, Tryna Middleton, 14.
Romell Broom allegedly kidnapped Tryna Middleton on Sep 21, 1984. Broom raped and murdered Tryna Middleton.
The US District Court refused to stay the execution on Monday. Gov Ted Strickland denied Romell Broom clemency. The US Supreme Court denied the appeal to stay the execution.
Romell Broom appeared to be accepting of his fate. Broom didn’t request for a special last meal or ask to speak to a spiritual adviser.
Tryna Middleton’s mother, Bessye Middleton, and aunt plan to attend Broom’s execution on Tuesday, Sep 15.

Romell Broom’s execution was delayed because the staff could not find a visible (or accessible) vein to insert the IV.
