Robin Starr: Robin Starr’s dog Louie died in hot car (photo)

Robin Starr, the CEO of Richmond’s SPCA, had her pet dog die in her car after it was left there for 4 hours. Starr’s dog was 16 years old, blind and deaf. Starr’s dog died on August 19.

Robin Starr claimed her husband Ed placed Louie, the dog, on the backseat of her car and didn’t inform her. Starr drove to work and Louie was left inside the hot car on a hot day in Richmond, Virginia. Louie’s cause of death was kidney failure.

Where was Louie hiding on the backseat when Starr locked her car to enter her office building? Starr saw Louie only when she went out to her car at lunchtime.

Robin Starr was a staunch critic of Michael Vicks when the news came out about his dog fighting ring activities. Starr’s dog has died under tragic circumstances, by a twist of irony and fate.

The SPCA released a statement here. A short quote is below.
“If this can happen to a woman who has dedicated her professional life to saving animal lives, this can happen to anyone, and that is why it is so important for this tragedy to serve as a learning moment.”
