Roberto Sol Cabrera Zavaleta, 38, tried to smuggle 18 titi monkeys in his belt. Zavaleta tied the titi exotic monkeys into pouches on his waist belt while traveling from Lima, Peru, into Mexico.

Two titi monkeys died. Zavaleta said the monkeys were his pets that he bought for $30. Titi monkeys are an endangered species. An owner needs to have a permit to be allowed to keep a titi monkey.
