Animal Planet’s “River Monsters” stars Jeremy Wade premiered on Sunday, April 25. The first episode of the new season of River Monster shows Jeremy Wade fishing for the “Death Ray” fish.

Jeremy Wade went to Thailand for filming the death ray. Wade explains that this river monster was thus named because its sting was so bad that the sufferer would wish for death to get relief.

Remember Steve Irwin? Steve Irwin was killed by the cousin of this ray fish. Irwin was in saltwater and met his death at the sting of the saltwater version of the death ray.

Wade’s “River Monster” hunt for the freshwater river death ray was deadly. The River Ray is a river monster fish that can be as large as 6 – 7 feet long and weigh a maximum of 700 pounds. That explains why it is classified as a river monster.

The river monster ray fish has an 8 inch long serrated dagger-like sting. The river monster ray’s sting gives a deep puncture wound. When the ray retracts its sting, the sharp edges do more damage to the flesh. The pain is excruciating. It undoubtedly, a river monster in all senses of the name.

    hello jeremy
just wanted to let you know that your series river monsters is one of the best i have ever seen, i know that if my husband were alive today that your series would be at the top. he was very much into fishing, catch and release of course. we lived in the medford area, about 12 miles out so fishing the rogue river at any time was very easy for us, it was not uncommen for him to bring home a catch, the biggest salmond he caught was around 48 lbs, which iam sure there are bigger!! but the fun part was catching off the bank, alot of fun, the biggest i caught off the bank was 28 lbs almost to much for me but got it in. know you are a busey man so you take care be carefull.
