Richard Ramirez is married to Doreen Lioy, a freelance editor. Lioy met Ramirez after he was arrested for the murders of 13 people. Ramirez was convicted in 1988 and he proposed to Lioy. She accepted his proposal and they stayed engaged until they married in 1996. Lioy and Ramirez had their wedding in the visitor room of San Quentin Prison.

Richard Ramirez has many female fans who write to him regularly. Some women visited him too. Ramirez was nicknamed as the Night Stalker because he killed his victims in their beds.

San Francisco police discovered that Mei Leung, 9, was killed by Richard Ramirez as his DNA matched that found at the crime scene on April 10, 1984.

Police obtained a warrant to get a DNA sample from Richard Ramirez to confirm that he is indeed the owner of the correct DNA being matched. Ramirez didn’t make any remark to confirm or deny anything.
