Richard Peters, 42, asked his daughter, Stormy Peters, 6, to fetch him his .45-caliber handgun on Sunday, Nov. 16. Richard Peters had been drinking double shots of vodka while cleaning his guns. He was unaware of pulling the trigger until he saw that Stormy had fallen to the floor.

Stormy Peters was shot and died in hospital on Monday, Nov. 17. Richard Peters has been arrested for suspected first degree manslaughter. Peters’ lawyer, Annika Carlsten, asked the judge to release Richard Peters from jail. The Sheriff’s office said that Richard Peters has 2 other children and they were removed from the home by the Child Protective Services.
