Richard Kern’s sexual assault on Michael Mineo: Mineo Kern (video)

Police officer Richard Kern, 25, will be indicted on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Richard Kern is accused of aggravated sexual assault on Michael Mineo, 24. Kern supposedly shoved a police baton into Mineo’s rectum, as Mineo was being searched for marijuana. Kern and 3 other police officers were present at the incident on October 15, at the Prospect Park subway station.

A police officer at the transit, Officer Kevin Maloney, testified during the grand jury proceedings. Maloney said he saw Richard Kern shove a baton into Mineo’s buttocks. Kevin Maloney will not face any charges.

Before the witness came forward, Rev. Al Sharpton, of the Action Network News in Harlem, had expressed support for Michael Mineo. Mineo said he thanks the officer for coming forward to give testimony. Michael Mineo expressed gratitude to the community and Rev. Sharpton for believing him.

A grand jury in Brooklyn has voted to indict officer Richard Kern and the charges will be unsealed on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Two or three other police officers will be indicted on lesser charges. Noel Jugraj, 30, Andrew Morales, 26 and Alex Cruz, 26, are expected to be indicted on charges.
