Richard Carr, of Toledo, Northwest Ohio, waited to get his telephone call from his mother. Carr was used to receive his routine night call and last Saturday, on May 23, Carr’s mother failed to call him. On Sunday, May 24, Carr armed himself with two guns and broke into his neighbor’s home.

Carr claimed his neighbor, John Murphy, had kidnapped his mother and that was why she was unable to call him. Carr fired multiple times at Mr and Mrs Murphy. The Murphy grandchildren were in a back bedroom and officers broke a window to pull them out.

Sometime during the commotion, police shot Carr and killed him.

Carr told police he suspected the Murphy couple had kidnapped his mother in Monroe, Michigan. When officers went to check on Mrs Carr, they learned from Richard Carr’s brother that the parents were away visiting Tennessee.
