Renee Bowman told police that human remains in her basement freezer belonged to her adopted daughters. Police suspect Renee Bowman was responsible for their deaths.

Police had gone to Renee Bowman’s home to investigate an abuse complaint when they found the frozen remains. Renee Bowman told police the corpses were there for at least 7 months. Autopsies were ordered to determine if the remains were of Bowman’s adopted daughters, aged 9 and 11 years old. Renee Bowman’s daughter had run away and authorities investigated because she showed signs of abuse and neglect. This runaway escaped by jumping down from a window in her locked bedroom on the second-story of the house. The girl managed to get help from a neighbor who then called 911.
