Rene Douglas: Rene Douglas injured
By Clarencia Cynrae on May 25th, 2009Rene Douglas, a jockey, was thrown from his horse during a race at Arlington Park, Chicago. Rene Douglas was sent for emergency surgery on Sunday, May 24. Douglas could not feel his legs. Douglas has swelling resulting as a consequence from his surgery. Doctors said Douglas need 2 weeks before the truth will be revealed.
Rene Douglas may not be able to regain the use of his lower body. Douglas was riding “Born To Be” when the horse clipped hooves with another horse. Born To Be threw Douglas over her head and then felon top of him.
Rene Douglas rode on 3,600 North American victories. Douglas won the 2006 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies with Dreaming of Anna. Douglas was the winner of the 1996 Belmont Stakes on the horse called Editor’s Note. Douglas had rode horses that have earned more than $102 million through Saturday May 23.
