On September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 was hijacked. The passengers knew that the cockpit was taken over by hijackers who threatened t blow up the plane with a bomb.

Several passengers made contact with families or people on ground and learnt that New York’s Twin Towers at World Trade Center were attacked and so was Pentagon. The brave passengers decided to wrestle control of the aircraft to prevent an attack on yet another crucial target. They broke into the cockpit. The plane crashed about twenty minutes outside Washington, DC. The brave passengers of Flight 93 saved a building and lives on ground by their actions even as they knew they would die when the pilotless plane crashed after they attack the hijackers. The crash left a huge crater on the ground and zero survivors.

The crash site of Flight 93 has a steel cross erected in honor of the bravery of the passengers and crew of Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. A bigger, permanent memorial is in the process of being constructed. It is planned to be ready in 2011.
