The gunman was Mario Ramirez, 50, of Alhambra. The two victims were Hugo Bustamante, 46, of Cypress, and Kelly Hales, 56,of Redondo Beach. The deceased men worked in the outpatient pharmacy. Bustamante was the manager of the pharmacy. Hales was the executive director of the pharmacy.

A gunman fatally shot two hospital workers before committing suicide at the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center on Atlanta Avenue. It seemed all three were employees of the hospital.

Charity Perez, 31, said her husband, the hospital valet, knew the gunman. He was described as nice, helpful, wonderful and great guy. The gunman was married and he had children. He heard there were retrenchments happening in June. It was unclear if the news was related to the shootings. The gunman’s supervisor was shot twice in the face.

Police do not know the motive for the shootings. Police have not released the names of the dead.
