By Therese Lisieux on December 31st, 2008

Police approached Ralph Evegan, 45, a paraplegic, to arrest him on an old disorderly conduct charge. Evegan was described as having rammed his wheelchair into an officer, throwing urine from his catheter bag and spitting at the police officer.

On Sun., Dec. 28, Ralph Evegan faced additional charges for assaulting a police officer, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Ralph Evegan’s lawyer said his client was thrown on the ground. Evegan tried to break his fall and the rest of it about the urine and spit was a misunderstanding.

Hamilton County Municipal Judge Ted Berry, of Cincinnati, ordered Ralph Evegan to be tested for infectious diseases that could be transmitted by body fluids.
