R Sathis Raj and Sabarish Raj are twins, 27 years old. One of the Raj twins was responsible for trafficking 166 kg of cannabis and 1.7 kg of raw opium in 2003. Police were unable to identify which twin was responsible.

The judge said that even DNA could not differentiate between Sathis raj and Sabarish Raj as the twins are identical. High Court judge Zahara Ibrahim said she could not send the wrong twin to the gallows so she acquitted both Raj twins. R Sathis Raj and Sabarish Raj are the luckiest men alive for that day. R Sathis Raj and Sabarish Raj escaped death row.

Police mixed up the twins and did not know which was the Raj twin responsible for the drugs. It seemed the police did not remember who wore what colored clothing and which one was arrested first.
