Queen Elizabeth, 81, cancelled her diamond wedding anniversary celebrations because of UK’s economic gloom. She thought it would be inappropriate and insensitive.

Picture showed her celebrating at The Ritz hotel, her favorite hotel, in 2006. That was her 80th birthday.

Queen Elizabeth, 2006

Gordon Brown was embarassed during the French-UK state visit when palace officials led him to his seat at the banquet table when actually, he had to stand beside the Queen before the ceremony to get seated. Queen Elizabeth said, “Has the Prime Minister got lost?”

There were no explanations on why the incident happened. Was it deliberate? Gordon got lost in his directorship of the economy.

When Queen Elizabeth cancelled her party, Gordon Brown has been criticized indirectly because this highlights the country’s economy under his leadership. ( “Has the Prime Minister got lost?”)The party was meant to be held last November but was postponed. That was a tactical manoevre. The next step was to announce its cancellation.
