Princess Caroline, of Hanover, is in the spotlight today. Princess Caroline’s husband, Prince Ernst August, of Hanover, appeared in court on Monday, June 15. Prince Ernst August has been accused of assault on Josef Brunlehner, a hotel manager.
What was worse, Prince Ernst August was accused of suing a knuckle duster on Josef Brunlehner on Lamu, an island belonging to Kenya. The alleged assault took place in 2000. Brunlehner claimed he was hospitalized after a severe beating.
Prince Ernst August admitted giving Brunlehner two slaps because he was annoyed about a laser show at the hotel disco. Prince Ernst August said he objected to the music and light.
Prince Ernst August was tried in court in 2004. Prince Ernst August was then found guilty of assault and fines 445,000 euros, or USD 616,000.
Prince Ernst August objected to the verdict. Princess Caroline testified in a closed court hearing and confirmed her husband’s testimony that he did not beat up Brunlehner severely.
This is Prince Ernst August’s second trial. Brunlehner, Princess Caroline and the doctors on Lamu island are expected to testify.
