Phoebe Snow has been named as one of New Jersey’s “black music industry greats” by a local NJ magazine. Phoebe Snow was named along with Stevie Wonder, George Benson, and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Phoebe Snow said she has faced doubts about her ancestry and this latest labeling has spurned her to find out the truth.

Phoebe Snow will take a DNA test to determine her heritage. Snow said she was amused by being named as one of the greatest blacks in music. Snow said her mother had a white complexion and expressed doubts she could merit being called black. Snow said a DNA test would be able to tell her if she could be called black.

Phoebe Snow wants the DNA test to reveal if she has enough African-American ancestry to be called black, as the magazine suggests.
