Updated May 29 2009 – Phil Spector has been sentenced to 19 years to life in prison on May 29. Spector was sentenced for his conviction of second degree murder of Lana Clarkson.

Rachelle Short, Spector’s wife, said he has throat cancer and needs regular surgical removal of the growths. Short maintained Spector was innocent. Short said Spector will appeal against his conviction and sentencing.

Phil Spector is charged with the second degree murder of Lana Clarkson, then 40. Lana Clarkson was an actress who was murdered on Feb 3, 2003. Phil Spector, a music producer, was tried once before and this is his second trial. Spector’s first trail had a jury deadlocked.
