Updated July 7 2009 – Phil Mickelson, the golf champion, is carrying more bad news on his shoulders. Mickelson’s mother, Mary, has breast cancer. Presently, Mary Mickelson and Phil’s wife, Amy Mickelson both suffer from breast cancer. Phil’s sister Tina Mickelson said their mother was getting treatment from the same hospital in Houston.

Updated May 20 2009 – Phil Mickelson’s wife Amy Mickelson has breast cancer. Mrs Mickelson starts cancer treatment immediately. Doctors scheduled major surgery for Mrs Mickelson in a fortnight’s time.

Mr Phil Mickelson will suspend his professional golf commitments and stop playing indefinitely to deal with his wife’s cancer.

Last week, Amy Mickelson failed to accompany Phil to Dallas to watch him play. This was a deviation from her normal routine. Perhaps it was because she stayed home to deal with her treatment.

Phil Mickelson’s wife is Amy Mickelson. Mickelson met Amy in 1992, while they were at Arizona State University. Amy married Phil Mickelson on Nov 16, 1996.

Mrs Amy Mickelson gave birth to Amanda, Sophia and Evan Mickelson.

Amy Mickelson had a difficult delivery with her youngest child Evan. Amy had a tear in her uterus and bled profusely. Both mother and child had a difficult time. Evan was not breathing when he was born. Medical help saved both Amy and Evan.

Whenever Phil plays at a golf tournament, Amy brings her 3 children along to support her husband as a family.
