Pensri Sophar Dalton: Dalton arrested for illegal boarding
By Clarencia Cynrae on September 5th, 2009Pensri Sophar Dalton, 61, was arrested. Dalton ran a group home for some elderly and mentally ill patients in Golden Avenue, in San Bernardino.
Pensri Dalton housed the 22 people in inhuman conditions. The housemates were living in converted chicken coops without proper sanitation. The boarders were forced to use buckets to contain their excretory substances. The people’s ages ranged from 30 to 70 years old.
Dalton had no license to operate a boarding and care home. This is not the first time Dalton has got into trouble for running a boarding home. Years ago, Dalton operated a boarding facility next door to her home which was shut down due to code violations. Once bitten, not twice shy.
Neighbors had complained about problems and about a razor wire surrounding Dalton’s home.
The inmates of the illegal home have been sent to other facilities. Two inmates were hospitalized.
The authorities are suspecting that Dalton may be running other boarding facilities and will be investigating.

She didn’t move the chickens out and move the people in! She really did take care of them. They call her “mama,” because she loves them, and they love her. They were never made to deficate in buckets! The razor wire around her property was to protect those people from outside elements that pleague that area. Each and every resident was free to come and go, but they had “house/common courtesy rules” to follow. If you violated those rules, you couldn’t live there. It was because of one such person, breaking the rules, who lost his place there and became angry about it, that she even ended up in the trouble she is in. If it wern’t for her heavy heart , those people, unable to be placed elsewhere, would be living under our city bridges in their own excrement! The City and County should take note from her example! Prison Camp, definately not! Heavy Hearted lady doing a very difficult job for next to nothing, for sure!
