Penny Halbish donated one kidney to her daughter, Suzanne Halbish, but died after the operation. The risks of a kidney donor dying because of a kidney transplant operation are very low.

Penny Halbish, 62, donated one kidney to Suzanne Halbish but died unexpectedly the next day. Penny is the wife of Graham Halbish, the former chief executive of Cricket Australia. The hospital would be conducting an investigation to discover the reasons why Mrs Halbish died.
