Paula Sims admitted that in 1986 she drowned her daughter Lorelai, 13 weeks old. Sims got away with her crime and thought she could do it again. In 1989 Sims killed Heather, 6 weeks old. Paula Sims told authorities a masked intruder kidnapped her babies.
Paula Sims was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. She was diagnosed with postpartum psychosis, which is a severe type of depression. Sims may have killed her daughters because she was mentally ill.
After 20 years in prison, Sims wants to ask clemency from Chicago Gov. Pat Quinn as Debra Gindorf was granted her clemency. Gindorf had similar circumstances and killed her two children. Paula Sims thinks she has hope for clemency too.
