Patrick Tracy Burris was identified by police as the Gaffney serial killer. Burris was killed in North Carolina. Burris was paroled in April after serving 7 years in prison.

Police think they had their man Burris and they pinpoint Burris as being responsible for the fatal shootings of 5 people in South Carolina.

Burris, 41, was fatally shot by police acting on a burglary complaint. Police matched Burris’ bullets to those used by the Gaffney serial killer. Burris had a long record for burglary and theft. Police could not explain why Burris became the Gaffney serial killer starting on June 27.
