Patrick Clegg, a student in Waynesville High School, Missouri,was batting on Tuesday, April 21, when he was fatally hit. Clegg was hit on his head just below the helmet and he collapsed.

Patrick Clegg was hospitalized in St John’s Hospital in Springfield. On Thursday, his doctors declared Clegg brain dead. Clegg was removed from his respirator and his organs were donated after his death on Friday.

Patrick’s father, Mike Clegg, said he met with the baseball pitcher who threw the wild ball. Mike Clegg said he told the pitcher not to hold himself responsible for Patrick’s death. Clegg described it was a freak accident . Mike said he told the pitcher to continue playing baseball.

Patrick Clegg’s funeral services will be held on Tue., April 28.
