Patricia Mauceri, the actress who played Carlotta Vega on “One Life To Live”, has been fired. Mauceri had objected to playing the role of a gay friendly Latina mother in the show. Mauceri said the role conflicted with her personal beliefs.

Patricia Mauceri balked at having to portray someone who approves of gay relationships.

The people in charge fired Mauceri and found a replacement in Saundra Santiago. Santiago has acted in “One Life To Live” before as another character.

Patricia Mauceri, who played Carlotta Vega on the soap, “One Life To Live”, was fired. Mauceri said she was dismissed for her refusal to portray her TV character as accepting of gays.

Mauceri said she wanted to negotiate with the producers but they booted her. The casting director found a replacement. The scene that was mentioned by Mauceri aired on Friday afternoon, September 4.

ABC dismissed Mauceri’s claims as being frivolous and refused to comment.

Patricia Mauceri said she was considering to explore her legal options to pursue the matter.
