Hampton University in Virginia had a shooting incident inside a dorm. Three people were injured during the shooting on Sunday, April 26.
Okaloosa County Sheriff Deputies Burt Lopez and Deputy Warren “Skip” York were fatally shot when they responded to a call to assist at Shoal River Sorting Clays and Shooting Center. The suspected assailant, Joshua Cartwright, 28, of Fort Walton Beach, drove away towards Walton County.

A runner in the Nashville Country Music Marathon died. The runner had completed the half marathon on April 25, Saturday, when he died of a sudden, cardiac arrest. Medical staff at the marathon tried to revive the runner but failed. The identity of the Nashville Marathon runner has not been released.
Sgt Darron Mikeworth has survived a suicide bomber attack in Iraq in 2005. Mikeworth lost his left eye, nose, hair and had broken bones in his face. Mikeworth’s face was not the same as before.
