Oscar Diaz, a welterweight boxer, has awakened after a two month coma. Oscar Diaz is now independent of the ventilator and breathes on his own.

Oscar Diaz went into his coma in the tenth round of his fight with Delvin Rodriguez. The near fatal boxing match on July 16 2008 almost cost Oscar Diaz his life. Theresa Diaz, the mother of Oscar, said she was very excited to see Oscar awake. Theresa Diaz had confidence that Oscar will fight to recover.

University Hospital in San Antonio gave a press release to report the progress of Oscar Diaz. Rejoice!
