By Clarencia Cynrae on March 18th, 2009Oliver Jovanovic was accused of sadomasochistic torture of Jamie Rzucek in 1996. This happened after Jovanovic and Rzucek met to have a sex session. Jovanovic maintained an online correspondence with Rzucek after the sex session.
Jovanovic was convicted in 1998. Jovanovic claimed the sex acts were consensual. Jovanovic firmly refused to accept a plea deal. Jovanovic appealed and his conviction was overturned in 1999.
The evidence at the trial included the email correspondence between Jovanovic and Rzucek but it excluded parts of the messages that Rzucek wrote about how she enjoyed the sex session with Jovanovic. It seemed Jovanovic was falsely accused by Rzucek
There was a retrial in 2001 but Rzucek refused to testify. The case of People against Jovanovic was dropped.
