Ocelio Alves de Carvalho, 19, a farmer, was killed. Carvalho was murdered, quartered and eaten by five members of the Kulina tribe in Brazil. The 5 men were detained briefly in the police station but they escaped.

Carvalho was herding cattle when he met a group of Brazilian Indians. They invited him to their village. Carvalho disappeared. His family went into the reservation to search fro him. The Carvalho family had a shock when they saw their loved one quartered and his skull was hung on a tree. There was gossip that cannibal ate parts of Carvalho.

The police and the Brazil’s national Indian Foundation were criticized for their slowness or lack of response.
