Obama Fried Chicken: Clipse Popular Demand Obama Fried Chicken (videos)

By Clarencia Cynrae on November 21st, 2009

Clipse, the rap band, made a video of their song, Popular Demand, opening with the signboard of “Obama Fried Chicken”. The African-American group subscribed to the stereotype of an ethnic group associated with a particular food.

The restaurant owner said Obama Fried Chicken was named in honor of Barack Obama.

MTV and other major stations that air the Clipse video on Popular Demand use an edited version that painted yellow over the signboard on Obama Fried Chicken. Why has Obama Fried Chicken been edited?

It is advertising the eatery in Brownsville, Brooklyn and MTV may have objected to it. Can you image the whole world looking at Obama Fried Chicken and thinking that President Barack Obama may have something to do with that Chicken restaurant?
