Nixzaliz Santiago: Santiago convicted for death of Nixzmary Brown

Nixzmary Brown, 7, died on Jan 11, 2006. On Friday, Oct 17, the Supreme Court in Brooklyn convicted her mother. Her mother, Nixzaliz Santiago, 30, was found guilty of manslaughter but not guilty of second degree murder.

Nixzaliz Santiago will face up to 25 years in prison. Her sentencing is on Nov. 5. Cesar Rodriguez, Nixzmary’s stepfather, was convicted of manslaughter in March and sentenced to 26 1/3 to 29 years. Maria Gonzalez, Santiago’s mother, will seek custody of her 5 grandchildren.
