Reshma James, 24, relocated from California to escape an abusive marriage. Reshma James had filed a restraining order against her estranged husband, Joseph M. Pallipurath, 27, of Sacramento, Calif.

Reshma James and some 200 church members were inside the St. Thomas Syrian Orthodox Knanaya Church in Clifton, in northern New Jersey, on Sun., Nov. 23, when a gunman opened fire. The New Jersey church shooting happened on Sun. morning after a domestic dispute.
Joseph M. Pallipurath is a suspect in the shooting of Reshma James, a 7-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man. Reshma James died. All three victims were shot in the head. The other two victims were in critical condition in hospital. Police are searching for Joseph M. Pallipurath. Pallipurath is a person of interest or suspect in the incident.
