I knew aasiya very closely as a family friend.she was a moderate muslim,a sweet and very co operative person.Islam is a complete religion.nowhere it says or gives a testimony of killing murdering a wife.the solution of not getting along is divorce or khula which asiya followed.hassan is a murderer, islam cannot support him at all.According to Islam he should be punished by being hanged. He has taken a mother away from her children. He has killed the children’s mom. There should be no mercy for him.Islam should not be wrongly interpreted and used as a shield to protect a wrong doer.

I also knew both of these people very well as I worked with them directly day in and day out. Aasiya deserved nothing of this sort. I always knew there was something evil about Mo whenever I’d look into his black eyes. Especially since the only emotion he knew how to show was anger. Mo should himself be decapitated. “Eye for an eye…”. I don’t think he’ll have a very good run in prison nor do I think he’ll make it out alive.

Odd that Bridgges TV channel is supposed to show the “corect” non-violent muslems…” and “…stop the incorrect stereotypes…”.
Seems they are all towel-headed sand monkeys!

Interesting tidbit in the long article below: “In 2004, Muzzamil Hassan
founded Bridges TV, an English-language Islamic network to combat
alleged anti-Muslim bias in the American media”. Hmm… this won’t help.
Only posting this particular article about the crime because of its
depth, NOT for the associated political commentary/comments at the end.
Since it happened a couple days ago there are numerous reports on other
websites but they’re shallow in comparison.
Beheaded in Buffalo: The Honor Killing of Asiya Z. Hassan
On February 13, 2009, in Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, 44 year-old
Muzzamil Hassan, a prominent Muslim businessman was arrested for having
be-headed his wife, 37 year-old Aasiya Z. Hassan. Yes, he beheaded her.
Aasiya’s crime? She dared to obtain an order of protection which forced
her violent husband out of their home.
We are now sadly familiar with some high profile Islamic beheadings of
infidels in Muslim lands; Daniel Pearl, Nicholas Berg, immediately come
to mind. Sadly, we are also familiar with the practice of beheading,
dismembering, burying alive, and stoning Muslim (and sometimes
Christian) women to death in Muslim lands. But this took place in a
suburb of Buffalo, New York, in America, Land of the Free and Home of
the Brave. What can this mean? Why behead a wife who wanted a divorce
and who wanted to live free of daily violence? Why didn’t Hassan just
agree to a divorce?
Because this foul murder is very probably an honor killing, a crime
which has little to do with western-style domestic violence. Erie County
District Attorney Frank A Sedita III has it all wrong. He commented:
“Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible.”
Yes, domestic violence exists in all countries. Femicide, like homicide,
also exists everywhere. But honor killings follow another, and quite
distinct profile. I am about to publish an academic paper in Middle East
Quarterly on this very subject. Although I do not, as yet, know all the
details of this Buffalo case, let me say that one feature of at least
half of all the honor killings that I have studied, involved the kind of
barbaric cruelty that we associate either with western serial killers,
Muslim terrorists, or with relatively ordinary Muslim families vis a vis
their daughters and their wives.
According to my preliminary study, the majority of honor killings in the
West are committed by Muslims. Hindus and Sikhs, who also come from
shame and honor societies, do commit honor murders but they seem to do
so far less frequently. Daniel Pipes and MEQ might decide to publish my
article online sooner rather than later, (or so he told me yesterday),
but until that time, I am reluctant to pre-empt its publication or to
share its findings.
In the Mumbai massacre, Muslim terrorists tortured and mutilated living
beings and perhaps corpses as well. Perhaps they wanted to render their
hated victims “deader than dead” as has been suggested in a recent
Symposium in Frontpage in which I participated. Simple death was not
enough to render their victims powerless. A beheading suggests that the
murderer wants to separate his victim’s mind from her body, he does not
want to hear what she has to say, he wants her mute, beyond what duct
tape can do and he wants her completely severed, disassociated from her
ability to flee.

Monkeys I tell you, monkeys.

The death penalty would be getting off easy for this piece of towel headed trash. Sadly I know this is going to spawn hatred and more stereotypes towards muslims. Extremist views, islamic or otherwise always breed hate and irrationality, and in many cases manifest themselves as violence. I hope they put this guy in the worse prison possible, and he lives every second of his life in anguish over what he has done, and never goes a day without fearing that someone may kill him.

It’s time to be aware of the increasing muslim population in the western countries.
If children are educated in a muslim environnement they will always act as they were educated.
They will never integrate in the western culture. They mostly use the system and claim more and more rigths. They take jobs from the country residents and exploit the social funds that come from our taxes. Stop immigration of muslims!!!!

Violence in any man of any faith is a known entity. A redneck could take a shotgun to his wife and children, this man can cut off a head.
Unchecked violence is not a stereotype of any one specific race or religion. It can however be more abundant in certain groups, due to socio environmental effects, perceived traditions, mass religious interpretations, power balances between men and women in some countries, overall social maturity on a national basis, education, etc, etc.
There is no one group of people (towelheads?) genetically more prone to violence than any other.
If you are going to hate, hate yourself for individually standing by and doing nothing while the world you live in has turned to this.
How easy it is to hate others and sit on ass!

This isn’t a religious problem:
Violence Against Women in the United States
MURDER. Every day four women die in this country as a result of domestic violence, the euphemism for murders and assaults by husbands and boyfriends. That’s approximately 1,400 women a year, according to the FBI. The number of women who have been murdered by their intimate partners is greater than the number of soldiers killed in the Vietnam War.
BATTERING. Although only 572,000 reports of assault by intimates are officially reported to federal officials each year, the most conservative estimates indicate two to four million women of all races and classes are battered each year. At least 170,000 of those violent incidents are serious enough to require hospitalization, emergency room care or a doctor’s attention.
SEXUAL ASSAULT. Every year approximately 132,000 women report that they have been victims of rape or attempted rape, and more than half of them knew their attackers. It’s estimated that two to six times that many women are raped, but do not report it. Every year 1.2 million women are forcibly raped by their current or former male partners, some more than once.
THE TARGETS. Women are 10 times more likely than men to be victimized by an intimate. Young women, women who are separated, divorced or single, low- income women and African-American women are disproportionately victims of assault and rape. Domestic violence rates are five times higher among families below poverty levels, and severe spouse abuse is twice as likely to be committed by unemployed men as by those working full time. Violent attacks on lesbians and gay men have become two to three times more common than they were prior to 1988.

In response to one living among Muslims post:
Whites, stop producing children! As they perpetrate violence in schools, your leaders attack and destroy civilizations!
What did innocent Iraqi children do to you? or 3.5 million innocent Vietnamese women children and elderly do to you that your government bombed the hell out of them?
You are a bigot, a racist and an intolerant excuse for a human!
February 17th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Apple you should try to reply to insults in a more intelligent manner as you too are a bigot and a racist. Don’t fuel ignorance with more of the same. This case is full of emotion and obviously will strike a cord with many groups (people who fear muslims, people against violence and spousal abuse for example)and some people will wish to use this incident to stereotype. The point is that Islam is a religion that spans many countries and Muslims that have moved to the USA have moved here and accepted the justice system. They are USA legal residents and no different to anyone else. They think the same way as anyone else. This is a violent crime and will be treated as such by our legal system. The real shame is that our legal system could not prevent Aasiya’s death and that is what should be addressed here. This is the case for all women who are trying to escape spousal violence they are in danger of losing their lives. So many women die, some survive but there is little or no protection, that is the real issue here.

This crime is rife with all kinds of ironies, controversies and subsequent opinions. Everyone will opine on this based on their pre-conceived notions of muslims, men, women and domestic disputes. However, the facts simply say the following:
This marriage had a history of classic domestic abuse. Domestic incidents were reported throughout their marriage. She was reportedly battered numerous times.
The man had two earlier failed marriages. Which suggests that his stellar career as a husband was not necessarily limited to this relationship.
He was not devoutly religious.
The above simply points to him being a despicable human being who couldn’t see his wife take control of the situation and leave. It can’t really be characterized as an honor killing because he had been through divorce twice before.
So everyone will draw conclusions based on their agendas in this case. The only incontrovertible fact, however, is that by all accounts a very kind and loving woman met a violent, tragic and a completely avoidable end. And two young children lost a loving mother.

Howcome when Scott Peterson killed his pregnant wife, religion wasn’t brought up????????
Get out of your nawrrow minded cave you “one who lives amongst muslims” and take this incident for what it is a murder by a psychopath.
February 27th, 2009 at 12:18 am
google their pictures, they hardly look like people who would believe in honor killings or the likes.
Get your facts straight before you start spreading obcenities.
February 28th, 2009 at 5:31 am
Clearly this man is ill minded and deserves to be punished. He misinterpreted the Quran. He, in my eyes, is an infidel. It clearly states in the Quran that unjust killing of one man (or woman) means the killing of the whole mankind. Yes, he very much deserves to be punished. But this is NOT part of Islam. Killing and beheading a woman for filing a divorce or “order of protection” is NOT part of our religion.
How the media attacks Muslims for there wrongdoings is atrocious. Yes the man killed his wife, but why linger on the fact that he is muslim? How many other people of different religions abuse thier wives and children? Isn’t that just as bad? Yes their are extremists in Islam, and they surely will be punished. But this negative attitude that builds prejudice and racism towards Muslims is wrong. Land of the brave, Home of the free??? There is no bravery in what is happening.
Thousands of innocent people were killed in Gaza, did America do anything? NO. So please, next time (hopefully there never will be) focus on the story and not the religion.
