Monica Chaudhry, daughter of Chitra Singh, killed herself. Ms Chaudhry was found dead on Friday, May 29.

Chitra Singh is a famous ghazal singer. Monica Chaudhry, 49, is Chitra’s daughter from her first marriage. Chitra remarried Jagjit Singh. Chitra Singh was visiting Monica and stayed at her home for the past month.

Armaan, Monica Chaudhry’s elder son, entered his mother’s room through a bathroom window and saw her hanged from the ceiling fan.

Monica’s first marriage was to Jahangir Chaudhry. The Chaudhry couple had 2 sons, Armaan and Umer Chaudhry. Monica divorced Jahangir in 2005. Monica Chaudhry’s second marriage was to Mark Atkins, a British man. Monica and Atkins separated 1 and a half years ago.

Jahangir had come on Thursday, May 28, to pick up his younger son to travel overseas for a planned holiday. The next day, Monica failed to wake up and that was when Armaan discovered his mother committed suicide.
