Whitney Merrifield, the Miss Utah County contestant, has won the Miss Utah 2009 beauty contest. Whitney Merrifield was crowned Miss Utah 2009 on Sat, June 20, in Salt Lake City. Kayla Barclays, the outgoing Miss Utah, crowned Merrifield as the new Miss Utah 2009.

Merrifield has ambitions to become a journalist and the $10,000 scholarship will be helpful for her needs.

Miss Utah 2009 will join the other beauties from the States in Las Vegas. Miss Utah will then compete for the Miss America title.
