Miss Shreveport, Katherine Putnam, was crowned the new Miss Louisiana 2009. The outgoing Miss Louisiana 2008 Blair Abene crowned her successor, Katherine Putnam, on Saturday night, June 20. Hope Anderson, Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe, is the first runner-up.

The new Miss Louisiana Katherine Putnam said that success was not in the destination but in the journey.
