Miracle Johnson: Johnson, 10, killed by Jacques Thomas, 11 (photos)
By Therese Lisieux on December 24th, 2008Miracle Johnson, 10, was fatally shot when her cousin, a boy, 11, pulled the trigger on her. Miracle Johnson was killed in her great-grandmother’s home in Fort Meade, Fla. Miracle Johnson and several kids were in a bedroom playing when she was shot. The house near Tampa, Fla. Miracle Johnson died on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
The rest of the case is a mystery. Investigators did not tell the press if Miracle Johnson was intentionally killed. The owner of the semi-automatic gun is Ivory Demetrius Johnson, 24, Miracle Johnson’s uncle. Miracle Johnson shared a bedroom with her uncle and the gun was kept in the bedroom.
The circumstances on how the children got hold of the gun were not told. The 11 year old boy is not yet publicly identified by some newspapers because he is a juvenile. However, another newspaper, The Ledger, named him as Jacques Thomas. He is Miracle Johnson’s cousin, visiting from Daytona.
Miracle Johnson, Jacques Thomas and his sister, Shnijah Wiggins, 5, were playing in the bedroom when Miracle Johnson was shot in the head.
Police said Jacques Thomas will not be arrested. Jacques Thomas will be interviewed in the presence of his parents.
Miracle Johnson lived in the house of her great-grandmother, named as Arthur Ree Murry, 79. Murry was in the kitchen at the time of the shooting. The sheriff’s deputies are investigating and currently, there is little other information on this case.
This is a great tragedy as the family prepares for the funeral of Miracle Johnson around Christmas time. Condolences to the family and their relatives.
