Updated May 31 2009 – Millvina Dean has died. Millvina Dean dies after Don Mullan and other celebrities pledged to support her. Millvina Dean was found dead at 97. Dean died in her sleep early Sunday, May 31.

Updated May 11 2009 – Don Mullan, a cameraman, has appealed to the public and movie stars who benefited from the film The Titanic. Mullan appealed non behalf of Millvina Dean. Ms Dean is now 98 and staying in a nursing home. Ms Dean sells her autographs to raise money to pay for her living expenses.

Director James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have contributed to a fund, currently standing at $30,000, for Ms Millvina Dean. This fund will secure the financial future of Ms Dean. Don Mullan has also made donations to Ms Dean’s fund.

Millvina Dean: Millvina Dean selling Titanic memorabilia

Millvina Dean, 96, is the sole living survivor of the saved passengers of the Titanic. Millvina Dean has been in Woodlands Ridge nursing home for 2 years since her health was poor after a fall. Millvina Dean said she wants to sell a suitcase that is a memento from the Titanic episode. Dean has other mementos for sale too.

Millvina Dean was only 2 months old when she was on board the Titanic. Her mother told her the story when she was 9 years old.

The auctioneer’s sale raised 31,150 pounds (40,000 euros, around USD15,000) for Millvina Dean’s Titanic souvenirs.
