By Therese Lisieux on October 19th, 2008In 2004, Mike Ditka, the ex head coach of the Chicago Bears, was approached by Illinois and national Republican leaders to run for the United States Senate against Barack Obama, an Illinois state senator. Mike Ditka refused. The Republican selected Alan Keyes and he failed to stop Obama.
In 2008, Mike Ditka was interviewed about the current state of events. Ditka was asked if he regretted his decision in 2004. Ditka said he wasn’t sure he could have won back then. The general feel was that Ditka could have won because he was popular, respected and had the qualities to win votes. Ditka said he would be voting for the Republicans this November.
