Microcephalics is the condition of humans born with small skulls and sharp noses and ears because of genetic mutation. In Gujrat, Pakistan, the local myth said that infertile women who pray at Shah Daula’s temple will be granted the wish of a child but the firstborn will be microcephalic.

The lay person call the microcephalic as the rat people.

Nadia, 25, has the microcephalic condition:

The microcephalic/ rat people/ rat babies must be consecrated and given to the temple or subsequent babies will suffer the same mutation. These microcephalic children grow up into becoming rat people beggars. People are afraid of bad luck so they will donate and subscribe to the continuation of the local myth.
