Mickey Carroll & Linda Dodge: Carroll’s relatives sue Dodge

May 8 2009 – Mickey Carroll, an actor who played a Munchkin in 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz”, has passed away. Carroll, aka Michael Finocchiaro, was born in July 1919.

Carroll’s caretaker, Linda Dodge, made the announcement that Carroll died. The news was made known on Thursday, May 7. Carroll was 89 when he died. Carroll was the one of the last survivors of the cast of the Munchkins in the 1939 film.

Carroll gave an interesting interview in 2007. Carroll talked about working on the set of the Oz as a Munchkin. Carroll said he made $125 per week on the set. Carroll said people remembered him for many years because he was a Munchkin.

The late Mickey Carroll’s heirs have filed a lawsuit against his caretaker.

Carroll had Alzheimer’s disease and lived with Linda Dodge, his caretaker, in her home. Carroll’s nephew has cerebral palsy and also lived in Linda Dodge’s home. Dodge is still caring for the nephew, who uses a wheelchair.

Mickey Carroll’s relatives claimed Linda Dodge took advantage of him when he had dementia. Carroll’s relatives claimed he left behind an estate worth more than $1 million. Linda Dodge has denied the relatives’ claims. Dodge said they disagreed because they had a family squabble with the late actor.
