Michelle Bruce, a transgender Georgia politician pictured here, won a lawsuit. The Georgia Supreme Court decided that Michelle Bruce did not mislead voters when she ran in the elections as a woman in Nov. 2007. On Monday, Oct. 6, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Michelle Bruce.

Georgia Fuller, and Stan Harris, two unsuccessful city council candidates, filed a lawsuit against Michelle Bruce and the city of Riverdale in 2007. Georgia Fuller and Stan Harris accused Michelle Bruce of lying to voters when she ran as a woman. Fuller and Harris accused Stephanie Thomas, a Riverdale City clerk, of tampering with voting machines.

Michelle Bruce was born Mickey Dwayne Bruce but she became Mickey Michelle Bruce in 1980 but goes by the name Michelle Mickey Bruce. Michelle Bruce was elected to the Riverdale City Council in 2004 and lost her bid for a second term to Wayne Hall, an Atlanta firefighter.
