By Therese Lisieux on January 3rd, 2009Capt. Michael “Scott” Speicher was flying his FA-18 Hornet in the Persian Gulf War in Jan., 1991 when his plane was shot down. Speicher became the first American to be lost in the Persian Gulf War. Michael Speicher’s family refuses to allow his status to be changed to “dead.”
It has been 18 years since Speicher disappeared. There were unconfirmed reports of sightings and his initials were found scratched on a prison wall. Speicher’s family refused to believe that he might be dead. There is a grave tombstone for Michael Speicher, which is shown in the video.
Michael Speicher left behind two toddler children when he went to war. The Speicher children are now of college age.
