Michael R. Long committed suicide in bank with police gun
By Therese Lisieux on September 6th, 2008Michael R. Long, 41, of Wheaton, was a suspect in a hit-and-run accident. It was Friday in Wheaton, Illinois.
Police who responded to the call for help was attacked by Michael Long. One officer was caught in a locked struggle and he was cut. Michael Long snatched away the officer’s gun. Long ran into the bank and held the people hostage. Other people in other parts of the building were guided out by police and SWAT. Police negotiators persuaded Michael Long to release all but two of the hostages. Michael Long cut off communication and by late afternoon, he shot himself in the head.
It seemed to be a senseless episode of violence.
