Michael Luther Schumacher, 34, and Kelly Layne Lau, 30, of Tracy, Calif., were arrested and charged. Schumacher and Lau were detained on suspicion of kidnapping, torture, false imprisonment and child abuse. The bail was set at $1.1 million each.

Police are searching for Caren Ramirez, 43, a third suspect. Caren Ramiraz is wanted in connection to alleged child abuse.

A boy, 17, escaped from the rented house of Schumacher and Lau, at Tennis Lane, and entered In-Shape Sports Club on South Tracy Boulevard. The teen asked for help and the assistant manager of the gym, Lea Leonardo, called police.

Kelly Layne Lau was described as a Oakland Raiders fan and a happy, stay-at-home mom. Lau said she was married to Schumacher. Schumacher worked as a contractor and Lau wrote in her blog he was a wonderful father to their 4 kids. Kelly Lau went to school in Truckee and Chino Hills (San Bernardino County).

Caren Ramirez, the third person in the case of the abused teen in Tracy, has been arrested. Caren Ramirez had a previous felony record. Ramirez, 43, is the boy’s aunt. Caren Ramirez supposedly knew where the boy was after he ran away from the foster home in Sacramento. Ramirez had a record for abusing the boy and she was on the lam to avoid arrest.
