Michael Gorby, 38, of Rapidan/ Virginia, was sentenced to 22 years in prison, for carrying a loaded shotgun in the US Capitol. Gorby received his sentence on Friday, August 15, 2008.

Michael Gorby carried the shotgun, had a 3 foot long sword strapped to his back, and wore a bullet proof vest when he was discovered. His truck had a home made bomb.

Michael Gorby chose to represent himself. He accused the police of altering the facts. He said police planted the bomb in his truck. He claimed he was carrying a walking stick when he was arrested and the pictures of him with a shot gun were altered images. Michael Gorby claimed that the police want him to look insane.

The prosecutors said that Michael Gorby might need help with his mental problems but he has refused to receive this kind of help. He is considered a threat to the public. Michael Gorby had prior convictions for theft, domestic violence, illegal gun and drug charges.
