Melody Morales is suing Hooters and the Hawaiian Tropic Zone. Morales (bikini photo below) claimed she was rejected for a job in Hooters because its manager said she did not speak white and she was ghetto. Morales, 21, said she had the assets to work in Hooters but the manager hated her accent.

Morales claimed she went to Hooters at Times Square to apply for a job. The manager said “I am not going to ruin my business with your Latin accent.” Months later, Morales said he returned to the same Hooters to apply again. Another manager was in attendance and she was again immediately rejected. Morales was told she had a Latin accent.

Morales’ lawyer, Derek Smith, said it was illegal to discriminate because of origin and accent. The Riese Organization operates Hawaiian Tropic Zone and their lawyer said Morales’ lawsuit was without merit. James Rosenzweig claimed the Hawaiian Tropic Zone had many Latino and Latina employees.
